The Academy of Interactive Entertainment (AIE)
is thrilled with its most recent selection as the winner of the
ACT Training Initiative Award, announced as a part
of the ACT Training Excellence Awards last night
at Parliament House.
The ACT Training Initiative Award recognises innovation and excellence
in vocational education and training in the development and/or delivery
of an initiative, program or product by an organisation.
AIE’s Head of School, Mr Ian Gibson, said “I am delighted
with our Award. It is a testament both to the hard work and initiative
of staff and students and to our innovative models of training.
This partnership model utilises the strengths of the industry through
great working relationships with groups such as, Sony Interactive
Foundation Australia, Irrational Games, Micro Forté and Canberra
Institute of Technology.”
The AIE is a unique training organisation located in the Canberra
Technology Park in Watson specialising in 3D computer graphics,
games programming and games development training.
The AIE was also a finalist for the 2003 ACT Small RTO
of the Year Award, which it won in 2002.
AIE has recently announced the opening of a new campus in Melbourne
in 2004.
The Awards are the ACT’s most prestigious and recognised training
awards recognising the dedicated training efforts in the ACT by
employers, apprentices and trainees, students, industry associations
and training organisations and excellence in achievement of individuals
and organisations. For more information on the awards visit http://www.decs.act.gov.au/services/TrainingAwardsEvents.htm
